The Volun-told Scouter shared the story of the rescue of Roger Locher at his website. GREAT STORY!!
23 days in captivity! It is a miracle this guy survived!
The ramblings of an ex BSA Varsity Team Coach on Scouting and specifically the Varsity program. My thoughts, ideas and concerns are in no way connected or shared in any form or fashion by the Boy Scouts of America or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) who volutold me to serve as a Varsity Coach. Some personal rambling too........... (I am an Assistant Scoutmaster now that the Varsity Program has been murdered........)

Something I didn't mention in my original post, but perhaps should have: Capt Locher was the G.I.B, the guy in back, of the downed F-4. His pilot, Maj. Bob Lodge, was privy to some very sensitive information about some very sensitive aviation equipment, and so to protect the secrets, he made the decision to ride his crippled jet into the ground. Major Lodge decided that the risks of being captured and the information extracted from him, thereby endangering his comrades, was simply too high. To protect everyone else, he made the ultimate sacrifice.
