The ramblings of an ex BSA Varsity Team Coach on Scouting and specifically the Varsity program. My thoughts, ideas and concerns are in no way connected or shared in any form or fashion by the Boy Scouts of America or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) who volutold me to serve as a Varsity Coach. Some personal rambling too........... (I am an Assistant Scoutmaster now that the Varsity Program has been murdered........)

Trails to Testimony
If you have not read this book, you need to. This is a great book for running an LDS unit and understanding the relationship between the LDS Church and the Scouting program. I don't make any money from the sale of this book but it is a great book! I personally have bought two extra copies and shared those with those LDS Scouters I love.

I've read it a couple of times and found it invaluable in understanding what Scouting is, and especially what it isn't. Between this and Wood Badge, I'm light years ahead of where I was when first asked to be an ASM in charge of 11YOs (I prefer not to use the moniker '11-year-old Scout Leader,' since there is no such thing). I've since persuaded my bishop that we needed several copies throughout the ward, and this last Sunday distributed them to the YMP, and will hand out a few more to the Primary and Cub leaders tonight. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
Someone needs to write the book Trails to Testimony in Varsity Scouting, relating how the VS program changes young men's lives. Go back through the book with this intent, and you will find even a greater wealth of knowledge.
I love this idea. Ask Brad Harris to do it!!
